Bootleg Homers

For the past couple months, I’ve been drawing lots of bootleg Homer Simpsons.

I wasn’t allowed to watch The Simpsons growing up, so naturally I’ve loved them ever since.

Homer is one of the most recognizable cartoon characters of all time, so it’s a safe place to learn. No matter how poorly I draw him, it still kinda looks like Homer Simpson. And kinda-looks-like is all I’ve ever wanted out of drawing.

I also love bootleg cartoon characters.

So free and fun to see a familiar face in a new strange light. How fearless the amateur painter is when penning Winnie-the-Pooh or Spongebob Squarepants, 8 feet tall, onto a preschool wall or small dentist office lobby. The t-shirts, the tossed canvas, the flyer, the meme, the menu.

I love them, bootlegs all.
